2015 Rescue Kerries Placed: June, now called Annie

Fostered in Colorado

Rescue Coordinator: Mimi Karsh

June 9, 2015

June a 6-year old neutered purebred female KBT.

Before
Feeling better after a drastic clip.

June was brought out of a shelter with 2 other Kerries. She was in horrible shape going into the shelter and a bit better coming out. Looks like a sweet little girl. She will be given a vet check, a deep clean dental (with extractions) then will be evaluated.

We are so thrilled to have her out! Here are before and after pictures in the shelter.

Updates will be given as they are received.

Here is June checking out her new play yard with a new friend.

June 18, 2015

While, April came out of the vet, June went in. She had bloodwork done today will spend the night at the vet and will have her dental tomorrow if all is well with the bloodwork report. June is also a very small girl and only weighs 20 lbs. These poor babies will need some good food as well as love and a comfortable home where they can experience being a "princess" first hand.
Who are these people, why is April here and why do I need another sleepover?

June 19, 2015

Oh dear. Our little 20 lb. June had some nasty looking teeth as well as a
complete overgrowth on an "extra" back tooth. Before and after dental
pictures will be added to the website and you will not believe what bad
shape this girl's teeth were in. Nasty, nasty, nasty. A small growth was
also discovered and sent in for a biopsy.
Before. Note the growth on the above the back tooth.
All clean.

June has been placed!

Here are a few photos of Annie AKA June. We (myself, Carolyn Mabie and my fiance, Tom Toby) picked her up at LAX on June 29, 4 weeks ago.

We arrived at the United Pet Cargo reception and waited only 5 minutes for her crate to come out, having been told that it could be 20-30 minutes.

Annie was very glad to get out of the crate and not at all frightened. She was very well behaved and seemed glad to see us.

I was so glad to bring her home to my Kerry who had been missing the other two dogs that had been part of her life since she was a puppy, one having passed away in January and the other in May. Katie, my 7 year old Kerry was glad to have Annie into our pack which now consists of 2 adults and 2 Kerries most of the time.

Tom will be around more when we are married, soon.

Here is a picture of June (now Annie) in her new home with her Kerry sister and Soft Coated Wheaten visitor. June is now adopted and living in California. She is the skinny one on the left.

At home a few days later. Annie is very much at home on the Lazy Boy leather couch with Katie.

Below, Annie looking a lot better with 3 meals a day for the last 4 weeks.

These photos taken today, July 27, 2015. She is absolutely delightful, is great on the leash and fully at home with us and very affectionate.

Annie Update, April 2016

Annie joined our “pack” on June 29, 2015. Tom (my fiancé) and I retrieved her from United Pet Cargo at LAX shortly after noon. We brought her home where she met Katie, my seven year old Kerry who had been mourning the loss of my Pomeranian, Chewie, who died in early May as well as our Shi-Tzu who died the previous Jan. Katie became an only dog for the first time in her life. Katie felt that second loss especially, and I was glad that I had put in my adoption papers for a Kerry rescue in May. It was really Annie who rescued us from the sadness we felt and bought joy and happiness as much as Annie needed a good home. It was love at first sight as we opened the crate and out came this sweet, trusting, much underweight Kerry blue terrier. I knew that we would remedy that problem, and with three meals a day, she went from 20 lbs to 30 lbs in a couple months.

With Annie for a playmate, Katie came out of her mourning. They tore around the backyard with Katie even taking the lead once in awhile. They sometimes run in tandem hoping that one of the squirrels in the trees will someday chase around with them on the ground. Every visitor to the house gets a thorough vetting from two Kerries who are always eager to meet a new friend to play with. They both love to go for a walk around the small lake near our house. Tom has been the one who has walked them the most. I feed them most often though, so I feel sure that they hold us both in high esteem as much valued members of our pack of four. They enjoy the comfort of the king size sleep number bed as well as the Lazy Boy leather couch.

Annie and Katie have become inseparable friends, always wanting to be near each other as well as to us. They are lap dogs when they feel the urge for a little extra attention and may just jump up and claim the territory. When Tom comes home after being gone a good part of the day, Annie and Katie surround him when he sits down on the bench at the foot of our bed to receive the ample attention he gives them as they jump and play together with him. Annie likes to run around in circles, always clockwise, Tom notes, sometimes to get Katie’s attention but sometimes just because she is happy or excited about mealtime or any other happy event.

The love and companionship that the four of us share in this household, our “pack of four” is very special and endearing.
