2011 Rescue Kerries Placed: Belle

© 2016 Kerry Blue Terrier Foundation

Belle, 8-year old female fostered in Ontario, Canada

Rescue Coordinator: Linda Grisley

Belle has been in foster care for months now and we have a very good feel for the family that would be perfect for her.

An active lifestyle: this girl may be 7 yrs. old but she has energy to burn! She is happy and friendly and would love to live a life of daily activities.

A large secure yard: see above!

People: Belle loves everyone, but please - only older children. Belle doesn't not like to be left alone all day, but part time is fine.

Other pets: Belle is friendly with the other Kerries in her foster home. She will be fine with an opposite sex dog upon proper introduction. No cats or small furry pets; her Kerry prey drive is evident - though she may keep the squirrels out of your yard!

Health: Belle is spayed, healthy and housetrained. She will benefit from obedience classes with her new owner to create a working bond. This is a requirement of all our rescue placements. She is a lovely purebred, silver with black points, happy go lucky Kerry girl.

Belle is a 7 yr. old spayed female Kerry Blue. She is a healthy, loving girl with only one problem – she is prey driven by smaller dogs. Belle needs more structure and control than she was able to receive in her home with too many people arriving and leaving. She escaped out the door and bit the neighbour’s dog. Her new home will need to be dog-savvy and organized so that there is no opportunity for small dog aggression, and it will be necessary for the new adopter to do obedience training to secure a bond with her.

Belle needs exercise and to live in an adult home with a large fenced yard and no cats or small dogs. She has a clear health record, is intelligent and well trained. Belle is loving and sweet with her owners – are you the right person to receive her affection forever?

Belle is of champion pedigree and CKC registered. Ownership can be transferred to the adopter.

January 2011 Update

Belle's foster mum reports that she is in fine health and spirit. This girl is turned 8 now but has not slowed down at all. She is happy-go-lucky and very active, enthusiastically wanting to go for walks and running with joy. Belle's foster mum is so taken with this girl that she has asked that she not be shipped far away, but be adopted to an adult family within driving distance of her foster home on the north shore of Lake Erie. Canadian and US adopters are encouraged to consider Belle if you live an active lifestyle, have a large fenced yard, are committed to taking classes with Belle to build a strong bond, do not work full-time, and love a beautiful silver Kerry girl.

Although Belle has been up for adoption for many months now, potential adopters should not draw any conclusions that there is something 'wrong' with this girl. She is a lovely Kerry female in great health who only needs to find a home close by.
