Fostered in Manitoba, Canada
Rescue Coordinator: Linda Lee
On August 28th, we took 3 purebred 12 week old Kerry puppies from rural Manitoba into rescue (2 females and 1 male). It saddened their owner to see his puppies go. However, his life circumstances had changed dramatically, so he was not in a situation where he could find the right homes for his beautiful pups.
These puppies are from championship lines. They have lovely temperaments, very people oriented! They love toys and cuddling with humans. Like most Kerries they follow you wherever you go. They settled down for bed with minimal fuss, sleeping in a crate together for 8 hours. Having come from a household with 3 adult Kerries, they are not intimidated by, but are still generally respectful of our 3 adult dogs. Their tails have not been docked and they are not yet house-trained or crate trained. The girls are going for their first vet appointment on August 31st.
The male (“Red Boy”) has gone to his new foster-to-adopt home in Winnipeg. The females are not named as yet; for the moment, one is “Purple Girl” and the other is “Green Girl.” One of the females is going to an approved home in Ontario later this week. The second girl is also placed.
UPDATE – 3 MUSKETEERS AND THEIR FOREVER FAMILIES
The three Kerry puppies taken into rescue at the end of August in Manitoba are all doing wonderfully in their forever homes!
Kelsey (Red Boy) is in a Kerry experienced home in Nova Scotia where he has a Wheaton playmate, Strudel. Many people helped Kelsey on his journey to his forever home – thanks to all!
Pepper (Purple Girl), is also in a Kerry experienced home in Ontario. Her new “Mom” has just retired so has lots of time to spend with Pepper. They have had some private lessons and start puppy classes in the next couple of weeks. As you will see, Pepper also likes to help out with the compost heap!
Sophie (Green Girl) stayed in Manitoba with a family that includes two adult children at home, so she is getting lots of attention! Sophie’s family have a cottage very close to where we live, so I am getting to see her grow up, plus Sophie gets to be part of our “pack” whenever she is at the Lake. Lovely to see four Kerries, ranging from 4 months to 14 years old, having fun together in the autumn sunshine!
Finally, it seems that each of the 3 Musketeers has their forever family wrapped around those long Kerry tails! Stay tuned for more updates.
