1970 - Trucote Captain William Owned by Mrs. J. URMSTON, 88 Donksesteeweg, Brasschaat, Belgium This truly great Kerry Blue dog was born in America, where he was purchased by Mrs. Urmston as a puppy with a potentially exciting future, Reared at her home in Belgium, his latent qualities were quickly brought to the fore. At the tender age of 14 months he had his first best in show at Brussels, quickly followed by another best in show at Rotterdam. His owner decided that to qualify this dog's greatness, the competition must be of the very highest standard, hence in April, 1970, he went back to the States in the care of Ric and Lesley Chashoudian. When the "Captain" walks into the ring there is little doubt about his intentions, after surveying the field you can watch him pull out all the stops and perform to perfection. His outstanding qualities are equally evident to the ringsiders. When you put your hands on him every assurance he gives is clerly defined-a great Kerry in an age of great Kerries His wins to date (at press time in early 1971) with the Chashoudian's handling are: 4-All Breed Best in Show's 14-Group Firsts 20-Best Kerry After an illustrious career in the States, "Captain" will return to his owner in Belgium for a restricted show campaign on the Continent, remembering that prior to visiting America he had been awarded the necessary four C.A.C.I.B. Certificates to qualify him for his European Title, the exception being that he was too young to receive it, the ruling in Europe being what it is. As one famous judge remarked - this dog will not remain a "Captain" for long, perhaps he would be better called "Commander."
