Ch (Alt) Starlite's My Special Angel RA, AGIJS, AGIS, OAP, OJP, HIC (Sheep & Ducks), CGC

August 8, 1999 – September 21, 2012

Very early this morning my sweet little Angel passed away, at home with George beside her. I had asked her that, when it was her time to go, to let me be with her.

Her health had been declining, especially in the past few months. A neurological condition (not DM) caused her body to twitch in her sleep. Her back legs had become so weak we carried her up & down stairs. She always seemed happy – loved car rides and food. When she didn't eat her dinner last night, George took her out for a short walk and said she was running after doing her business!!! A little after midnight, she became restless, panting more heavily than usual and unable to walk. Then she was gone!!! Even though I knew she wasn't going to be around much longer, the speed of her death was a shocker.

What a change from such an athletic and energetic Kerry. In her younger days she could jump 3 or more feet from a standing start. The one time we tried tracking it was funny to see her head appear above the tall grass for a quick look left and right. Agility – especially Jumpers - and Rally were fun. Obedience not so – we always NQ'd on the stay exercises. The USKBTC gave her a bronze Versatility Award and her name is on KBTCC trophies. She completed Herding Instinct Tests on sheep & ducks at a time when people had never seen a Kerry work livestock. At her last Rally trial she stood in the ring barking, rather than doing the exercises – it was time to retire her from competition!!!

Everyone loved Angel. She would greet visitors with a toy in her mouth (turning her head away just before you could snatch it!!). She once French-kissed a gal who bent down to tell her how cute she was!!

Many times each and every day I would say "I love you, Angel Baby". She returned my love many times over. I shall miss having her at my side.
Rest comfortably, My Special Angel.
