Female #114, Layla, DOB 6/04/03

October 29, 2006

My name is Dan Belisle, and my wife and I, our son, and our two Wheatens (Emily and Callahan) are Leila's new family. We've changed the spelling of her name to Layla, as my wife's name is Leila, spelled the same but pronounced differently.

Layla came to us in a roundabout way, our groomer told us the rescue Kerries story, and I became intrigued, putting our name in the hat as an adoptive family. We had thought we would get a puppy (easier to train, we figured), but as it turned out Layla became available, and when we met her we decided that she was wonderful and just needed a good home with dogs in it. Luckily we fit that description, and she came to live with us. She's still a little shy, but coming along nicely, and she has just recently discovered the joys of romping in fresh snow with Callahan. They are all getting along great, no pack issues at all, and Emily and Callahan seem to sense that they have to be more gentle with her then with each other. Layla is holding her own with Callahan playing in the yard though, and it's a pleasure to watch them chase each other around.

We're very happy with her, and she seems to be happy with us. I have to get a new digital camera before I can get some decent pictures, I tried with my phone, but that didn't work out too well. When I do, I will be sure to pass some along, along with periodic updates on how Layla's doing.

Take care now.
